odd and ends

I've got scraps of paper everywhere, it's just who I am. I record things that seem valuable at the time, and often the information just clutters up my life. Well, for the following two pieces of information, they can clutter up googles blog hard drives, and be out of my physical space forever. item 1... a fresh install of sx El capitan takes 14.78 Gb of space. item 2... using a usb 2.0 thumbdrive to transfer a file from my droid phone to my computer took 2:50 while using MTP protocol to transfer the same file, took only 0:32 seconds. So, as much as I hate that google straight up disabled old fashioned usb transfer functions, I'll admit that MTP is a faster protocol. I will, however, hang them out to dry because the idiots still haven't released a native MTP driver for osx. Modern Windows and Linus distros can mount an MTP volumes out of the box, but osx needs the crippled "android file transfer" program. Grr. That's it internet, peace in.
